Governments across the African continent are putting more emphasis on creating environments where entry-level employees can grow their skills and get on-the-job training.
“Skills development forms the backbone of any sector, even more so the ICT sector because it is so specialized,” says Jane Mosebi, managing director of ForgeAhead.
“Governments are putting more measures in place to ensure this and for a good reason too – if we don’t continually grow our skills base, how will we ensure that the sector remains sustainable?” she asked. This she said is done through mentorship, learnerships and ongoing skills transfer and training.
