Ugandan researcher roots for Biotech

HUNGER will remain a problem in Africa if governments do not consider application of biotechnology, the division director of International Services for National Agricultural Research Division, Dr. Kisamba Mugerwa, has said.

Presenting a paper titled ‘Re-engineering Agricultural Research and Innovations for Small-holder farmers’ at Hotel Africana in Kampala recently, Kisamba said, “Africa missed out on the green revolution that tripled food out put in Asia and Latin America. If governments keep regulating biotechnology, we shall be left behind.”

He said biotechnology has been applied on small scale in Uganda.
