The Uganda government has announced that it will need USD1,023.37 million in its war against HIV over the next four years.
The call contained in the new National HIV Prevention Strategy 2011-15 comes against the background of dwindling funding for HIV.
Speaking to local Press in Uganda, Dr. Kihumuro Apuuli said donors are current,y contributing 68 per cent of the HIV funding.
“The Government only contributes 11%, " Dr Apuuli sid.
Musa Bungudu, the UNAIDS country director appealed to the Government of Uganda to increase resources to HIV/AIDS.
“The Government contribution of 10% is far from being acceptable. It is high time they allocate the right resources to address the problem,” he urged. He said .
